Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all requirements of the task. You have identified the main trends for both categories of visitors and provided relevant data points to support your descriptions. The overview is clear, highlighting the key movements of both groups. However, the final sentence of the overview is slightly contradictory to the data provided in the body paragraphs, as you mention the number of returning visitors fell after 2006, but the overall summary statement could be more precise regarding the total visitor numbers. To reach a higher band, ensure that your summary accurately reflects the most significant trends without needing to repeat specific data points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'After this', and 'Overall' to guide the reader through the information. The progression of ideas is generally smooth. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be more varied. For instance, the repetition of 'the number of' at the start of several sentences makes the flow a bit repetitive. Improving the variety of linking phrases and using more sophisticated referencing would enhance the cohesion of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'depicts', 'escalated', 'dramatically', and 'parallel'. There are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'started to fell' (should be 'fall') and 'the visitors' number' (should be 'the number of visitors'). While you successfully convey the meaning, the vocabulary is somewhat functional. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more precise collocations and avoid repeating the same phrasing when describing trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'started to fell' instead of 'started to fall', 'the visitors' number' instead of 'the number of visitors', and 'there were larger number of visitors' (missing an article: 'a larger number'). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the information. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct verb forms will help improve your accuracy.
