Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, reaching only 95 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While the main trends are identified, the lack of sufficient length prevents a full, detailed summary or a comprehensive comparison of the data. The overview is present but lacks the depth required for a higher band. To improve, you must expand your analysis by including more specific data points, comparing the two categories more thoroughly, and ensuring you meet the minimum length requirement to allow for a full development of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is very short, which limits the ability to demonstrate a range of cohesive devices. There is a basic attempt at paragraphing, but the text lacks a clear, logical progression due to its brevity. Cohesive devices are minimal; for example, 'On the other hand' is used correctly, but the overall flow is disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'in contrast', 'consequently') and ensure that your sentences are connected in a way that guides the reader through the data logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You use some relevant terms like 'declining' and 'peak', but there is a lack of variety and precision. There are also minor errors, such as 'minima' (which is used incorrectly here; 'minimum' or 'lowest point' would be better) and 'at a good pace' (which is slightly informal for an academic report). To improve, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a significant surge'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains several grammatical errors that affect the quality of the writing. For instance, 'compares between number' should be 'compares the number', and 'it's peak' should be 'its peak' (possessive). There are also issues with article usage, such as 'at Caryl island' (should be 'on Caryl Island'). The sentence structures are relatively simple, and the lack of length prevents the demonstration of a wider range of complex grammatical structures. Focus on proofreading for basic errors like subject-verb agreement and possessive pronouns.
