Student answer (Band 5.5)
The infograph illustrates the visitors of Caryl Island, included both the first time visitors and the returning visitors in between the year of 2000 to 2008.
Overall, it can be seen that the number of visitors who were going to Island was increased since starting to the end and it was highest on the year of 2006 whereas, number of first time visitors increased gradually throughout the time period after the year of 2002.
To begin with, at the beginning of the year 2000 number of returning visitors was at it's lowest which around 3000. After that, the number increased dramatically and reached to it's peak in the year of 2006,which is approximately 15,000. Then after, the number slightly decreased in the last year 2008 which is less than 14000 visitors.
Moreover, the number of first time visitors were initially higher than returning visitors which was 8000 in the year of 2000. But, it started declining after that and reached to it's lowest in the year 2002 which is 4000 visitors. Conversely, the number dramatically increased and followed the increasing trend throughout the time period, which was highest in the year of 2008 and it was upto 12,000 vositors.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the graph, including the trends for both visitor types. You have successfully identified the peak for returning visitors and the overall growth for first-time visitors. However, the overview is slightly confusing; you mention that the number of visitors was highest in 2006, but this only applies to returning visitors, not the total or the first-time visitors. To improve, ensure your overview clearly distinguishes between the two categories and highlights the most significant trends rather than just listing data points. The data is generally accurate, but the summary could be more precise in its comparison of the two groups.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Conversely' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear. For example, in the second paragraph, the phrase 'since starting to the end' is vague and lacks clarity. Improving the flow between sentences by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to the correct noun would help move this into a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'dramatically', 'gradually', and 'declining'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and spelling, such as 'infograph' (instead of 'line graph'), 'vositors' (spelling error), and 'upto' (should be two words). Additionally, some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'the number of visitors who were going to Island'. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure that your spelling is accurate throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'in the year of 2006' (should be 'in 2006'), 'it's peak' (should be 'its peak'—no apostrophe for possessive), and 'number of first time visitors were' (should be 'was' to agree with 'number'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and possessive pronouns to improve your accuracy.
