Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main trends for both visitor categories. You successfully highlight the key features, such as the decline and subsequent recovery of first-time visitors and the peak of returning visitors in 2006. However, the analysis could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the two groups at specific points in time, rather than describing them in separate, isolated paragraphs. While the overview is present, it is somewhat repetitive in the conclusion. To reach a higher band, ensure the overview synthesizes the data more effectively rather than just restating the trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each category, and a conclusion. The progression of ideas is generally clear. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'the year 2000' or 'in the year'. Some transitions between sentences feel slightly forced. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'these periods') is precise would help the flow of the response feel more natural and sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'inflow', 'dramatic change', and 'gradually'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and minor errors, such as 'pointbof', 'postive increase', and 'figurenin'. Some word choices are slightly imprecise, such as 'encouragung' (spelling error) and 'not left unnoticed'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure that your spelling is accurate, as these small errors slightly detract from the overall professional tone of the report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the year 2000', 'the both the first visitors'), subject-verb agreement, and punctuation (e.g., missing spaces in 'pointbof' and '12,000in'). The sentence structure is often repetitive, relying heavily on 'The year X marked...'. To achieve a higher band, you should aim for more error-free sentences and a greater variety of complex structures, while paying closer attention to basic proofreading to eliminate minor slips.
