Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the main features of the graph, but the information provided is often inaccurate or confusing. For example, the description of the trends for first-time visitors is contradictory and contains incorrect data points, such as mentioning the year 2020, which is outside the scope of the graph. While an overview is attempted, it lacks clarity and fails to accurately reflect the overall trends shown in the data. The report does not effectively highlight the key comparisons between the two categories, leading to a response that only partially addresses the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by unclear referencing and mechanical transitions. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'The tourist who...' to start sentences. The connection between sentences is often weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow the development of the data trends. While there is an attempt at an overall structure, the lack of clear, logical flow between the points presented hinders the coherence of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'tourist' and 'number'. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'repedly' (repeatedly), 'Intatly' (initially), and 'firts' (first). These errors, combined with the misuse of terminology (e.g., 'return form that place'), occasionally impede the reader's understanding. The student struggles to use precise language to describe trends, such as 'reach in peak', which is not standard collocation. A wider range of vocabulary related to data description is needed to improve the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies on a limited range of sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the tourist... was decreased'), incorrect verb tenses, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'which have 8000 tourist'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, and the misuse of prepositions is common. While some simple sentences are understandable, the frequent errors in basic grammar and the lack of complex structures mean that the writing does not demonstrate a high level of control. These errors are noticeable and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader.
