Student answer (Band 4.5)

The graph is bascically about the number of tourists who visualized Caryl Island. The grapgh indicates the years also from 2000 to 2008.As we see the strength of tourists in 2006 are significally above as compare to other years.

Therefore,Tourists often visited 2006 the most maybe the weather is more charming at the island. In 2000 the number of tourists are too much less maybe the weather condition is rough.hot or humidate.in 2002 ten thousand peaople gone to island for tour, therefore in 2006 the number of tourists risen high as [redacted phone] this is a large number of visitors as compare to others.

AT the end,i would say that the number of first time tourists are rise from 2000 and minimize then 4000.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. Furthermore, the content is underdeveloped. While you identify the peak year (2006), you fail to provide a clear overview of the trends for both visitor categories. The analysis is largely speculative (e.g., guessing about weather conditions), which is inappropriate for an Academic Task 1 report. You must focus on reporting the data objectively rather than providing personal opinions. To improve, ensure you describe the trends for both 'first-time' and 'returning' visitors throughout the entire period, rather than focusing only on isolated years.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The essay lacks a logical structure. There is no clear introduction or overview, and the paragraphing is ineffective. Cohesive devices are used incorrectly or are absent, making the progression of ideas difficult to follow. For example, the use of 'Therefore' and 'AT the end' does not logically connect the sentences. To improve, use clear paragraph breaks: one for the introduction/overview and one or two for the body paragraphs. Use linking words like 'in contrast', 'meanwhile', or 'subsequently' to guide the reader through the data points.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary is very limited and often inaccurate. There are several spelling errors (e.g., 'bascically', 'grapgh', 'peaople', 'humidate') and word choice issues, such as using 'visualized' instead of 'visited' or 'illustrated'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends accurately; for instance, 'risen high' is not standard academic phrasing. You should focus on learning specific collocations for describing graphs, such as 'reached a peak', 'fluctuated', or 'showed a downward trend'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the strength of tourists in 2006 are'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'ten thousand peaople gone to island'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on. You rely almost exclusively on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are often grammatically incorrect. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practice using the past tense consistently for data from previous years.
