Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the graph, such as the trends for both visitor types. However, the overview is missing; a summary of the most significant trends (e.g., the overall growth in both categories) is essential for a higher band. Some data points are reported, but the comparison between the two groups is underdeveloped. The conclusion provided is somewhat repetitive and does not add new analytical insight. To improve, ensure you include a clear overview paragraph after the introduction that highlights the main trends observed across the entire period.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'In result' and 'In addition' used at the start of sentences where they do not logically fit. The flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the second and third paragraphs. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'meanwhile', 'furthermore') and ensuring they are used in the correct context would significantly improve the logical progression of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several awkward phrasings, such as 'returning back' (redundant) and 'decreased Fastly' (incorrect adverb usage). The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on basic verbs like 'increased' and 'decreased'. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise reporting verbs and adverbs to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'surged', or 'a marginal increase', and avoid non-standard word forms like 'Fastly'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the number of returners tourists are'), incorrect sentence fragments (e.g., 'In contrast, it increased slowly to 6000 in 2004. after that is increased...'), and misuse of articles and prepositions. While there is an attempt at complex sentence structures, they are often marred by punctuation errors and incorrect verb tenses. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will help improve your accuracy.
