The line graph illustrates the comparison between the number of visitors visiting for the first time and returning visitors who visited Caryl Island from 2000 to 2008.

Overall, the number of first time visitors were the most numerous at the beginning of the period which was eventually surpassed by returning visitors.

On the other hand, the number returning visitors rose sharply from 3000 visitors to 10000 visitors during 2000 to 2002 and then it increased slightly to 12000 visitors in 2004. before this figure dropped back to 13000 visitors in 2008 it observed a moderate incline to 15000 visitors in 2006.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task and provides a clear overview of the trends. You successfully identified the main features, such as the initial decline in first-time visitors and the overall growth for both categories. However, the analysis of the data contains some inaccuracies. For instance, you state that returning visitors dropped to 13,000 in 2008 after being at 15,000 in 2006, but the graph shows a different trajectory. Ensure that data points are transcribed precisely to avoid misrepresenting the information provided in the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'A detailed analysis', and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader. While the progression is generally clear, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the information is grouped effectively by visitor type, which helps the reader follow the comparison. To reach a higher band, focus on ensuring that the logical flow between sentences is more seamless and less reliant on standard linking phrases.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'rebounding', 'witnessed an increase', and 'moderate incline'. There is an attempt to use less common vocabulary, though some phrasing is slightly repetitive (e.g., 'visitors' is used frequently). The word choice is generally accurate and does not impede communication. To improve, try to incorporate more precise synonyms for 'increase' or 'decrease' and avoid repeating the same nouns too often, which will help demonstrate a more flexible and sophisticated command of language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the number of first time visitors were') and punctuation errors (e.g., the sentence starting with 'before this figure dropped...' is a fragment). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focusing on consistent subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are punctuated correctly will significantly improve your accuracy.
