The line graph shows the number of first time visitors and returning visitors who visited Caryl Island from 2000 to 2008.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The line graph shows the number of first time visitors and returning visitors who visited Caryl Island from 2000 to 2008.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The line graph illustrates the comparison between the number of visitors visiting for the first time and returning visitors who visited Caryl Island from 2000 to 2008.

Overall, the number of first time visitors was the most numerous at the beginning of the period which was eventually surpassed by returning visitors. Furthermore both the first time as well as returning visitors witnessed an increase over the period.

A detailed analysis of the line graph reveals that first time visitors dropped considerably from 8000 visitors to 4000 visitors during 2000 to 2002, before rebounding to their initial levels in 2005. Then this figure increased significantly to 12000 visitors in 2008.

On the other hand, the number returning visitors rose sharply from 3000 visitors to 10000 visitors during 2000 to 2002 and then it increased slightly to 12000 visitors in 2004. Furthermore this figure observed a moderate incline to 15000 visitors in 2006, before dropping back to 13000 in 2008
