Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While the report covers the main trends, the analysis is underdeveloped. The overview is very brief and lacks a clear summary of the overall trends. Furthermore, the description of the data is somewhat mechanical, listing figures without providing sufficient comparative analysis or highlighting the most significant features effectively. To improve, ensure you provide a more comprehensive overview and expand on the data points with more detailed comparisons, ensuring the response meets the length requirement to allow for a full development of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by the lack of depth and some awkward phrasing. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In Addition', 'However', and 'Moreover', but they are sometimes used incorrectly or in a repetitive manner. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences feels disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus that contributes to the overall summary of the graph.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying heavily on phrases like 'the data recorded from' and 'visitors'. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'touristers' instead of 'tourists' and 'vists' instead of 'visits'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with precision or variety. To improve, try to incorporate a broader range of synonyms and descriptive verbs (e.g., 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable') to describe the trends in the graph, and pay closer attention to spelling and word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'population... are recorded', 'visitors... jump') and incorrect preposition usage. Sentence structures are generally simple, and attempts at more complex sentences are often marred by punctuation errors or awkward phrasing. The lack of control over basic grammar and sentence structure makes the text difficult to follow at times. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement, consistent tense usage for past data, and correct punctuation to ensure your sentences are clear and grammatically sound.
