Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response successfully identifies the main trends and makes relevant comparisons between the two visitor categories. You have highlighted the key features, such as the initial decline and subsequent recovery of first-time visitors, and the peak reached by returning visitors. The overview is clear and provides a good summary of the overall trends. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points mentioned are accurate according to the graph; for instance, the peak for returning visitors is clearly in 2006, and your description of the data is generally well-supported. The response covers all parts of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs detailing the trends. Cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'Looking at the details', and 'However' are used to guide the reader through the information. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the specific data analysis. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions could be more sophisticated to improve the overall cohesion. The referencing is clear, and the progression of ideas from the start of the period to the end is easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'upward trend', 'surpassed', 'trajectory', and 'peak'. There are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'dispite' (despite), 'peole' (people), and 'visitor' (visitors) when referring to the plural. Additionally, phrases like 'After displayed a significant drop' are grammatically awkward. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, these slips prevent a higher score. Focusing on accurate spelling and ensuring that nouns agree with their quantifiers will help improve your lexical precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'After displayed a significant drop' (should be 'After displaying' or 'After it displayed'), 'before saw a slight surge' (should be 'before seeing'), and 'Returning visitor showed decrease' (missing articles). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher band. You should work on verb forms following prepositions and ensure consistent subject-verb agreement to improve your accuracy.
