Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the graph, identifying trends for both visitor categories. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and contains inaccuracies regarding the data points (e.g., mentioning 2003 when the graph spans 2000-2008). The overview is present but lacks clarity due to poor phrasing. While the main trends are identified, the lack of precision in reporting the data and the confusion regarding the time frame limit the effectiveness of the response. To improve, ensure you accurately transcribe the years and figures from the graph and provide a more cohesive summary of the overall trends.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'furthermore' and 'in contrast', but they are often applied incorrectly or in a way that makes the flow mechanical. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between ideas feels disjointed. The paragraphing is present but does not effectively group related information to guide the reader through the data. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate. There are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'renderd', 'significantaly', 'throghout', 'cuntry', 'iscalated', 'peacked') and word choice issues (e.g., 'drawback' used to describe a decline in numbers, 'view island' instead of 'visit the island'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with precision. To reach a higher band, you must focus on accurate spelling and using topic-specific vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable', or 'a significant increase'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'both section were'), article usage, and sentence structure (e.g., 'there was steady fluctuation seen of newlly visiters'). Complex structures are attempted but are often faulty or poorly constructed. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect pluralization.
