The blue color line graph shows the first time visitors to Caryl Island from 2000 to 2008 and the brown color line graph shows the returning visitors to Caryl Island from 2000 to 2008.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the graph, such as the overall upward trend and the starting/ending figures. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and contains inaccuracies. For instance, you mention a decrease in returning visitors in 2008, which contradicts the graph, and the description of the 2002 dip is slightly confusing. To improve, ensure you accurately interpret the data points and provide a clearer overview of the trends rather than just listing individual years. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and lacks a strong summary of the key differences between the two visitor types.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and a lack of varied cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are often mechanical (e.g., 'In 2000', 'In 2008', 'In conclusion'). The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the two groups. To improve, use a wider range of linking words such as 'conversely', 'meanwhile', or 'subsequently' to connect your ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'line graph', 'visitors', and 'number'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'trip attraction' and 'decreasing patterns available'. The range is insufficient to convey the data with precision. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more academic vocabulary related to trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable', or 'witnessed a significant rise'. Focus on using precise verbs and nouns to describe the movement of the lines.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the first time visitors is', 'the number... have been increased'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly regarding the use of commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and attempt to combine simple sentences into complex ones using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
