Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the graph, identifying the trends for both visitor categories. However, there are significant inaccuracies in the data reporting. For example, you state that first-time visitors started at 8,000 and decreased, whereas the graph shows a different starting point and trend. Additionally, the summary statement at the end contradicts the visual data, as the graph shows first-time visitors actually overtaking returning visitors by the end of the period. To improve, ensure you carefully cross-reference your descriptions with the actual data points on the axes to avoid factual errors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the another hand', and 'Meanwhile'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the final conclusion is confusing because it misinterprets the data presented in the body paragraphs. Improving the logical flow between sentences and ensuring that the summary accurately reflects the preceding analysis would help achieve a higher score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, but there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors. Phrases like 'elucidate the number', 'whom were travelled', and 'population for travelling' are unnatural. You also use 'population' incorrectly to refer to the number of visitors. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise terminology for describing trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'remained stable', and ensure that nouns are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'who have being visiting', 'whom were travelled', and 'the rate of returning visitors were'. Subject-verb agreement is a recurring issue, as is the incorrect use of passive and active voice. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on verb tenses and subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your accuracy.
