Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to summarize the graph but fails to provide a clear overview or highlight the most significant trends. While it mentions the two categories, the description of the data is fragmented and lacks a cohesive summary of the main features. The data points provided are often confusing or inaccurate, such as stating '8000 in the 2000' and then '4000 low in 2002', which does not clearly reflect the visual information. The response lacks a comparative analysis, which is essential for Task 1. The information is presented as a list of figures rather than a structured report, making it difficult to identify the overall trends or key differences between the two visitor types.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The sentences are disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is extremely limited and often repetitive (e.g., 'the next year', 'the visitors'). There is no clear transition between the overview and the body paragraphs. The referencing is often unclear, and the lack of logical flow makes it difficult for the reader to follow the development of the information. The structure is mechanical rather than functional, failing to guide the reader through the data effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive. The student relies heavily on simple phrases like 'the visitors' and 'the year', which limits the ability to describe the data with precision. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'the visitors again above is 10000' and 'low then behind'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information accurately or to describe trends (e.g., using 'high' instead of 'peaked' or 'increased'). The lack of variety and the persistent errors in word usage significantly hinder the clarity of the report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement ('The line graph display'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or poorly constructed, such as 'In the visitors 8000 in the 2000'. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces placed incorrectly before commas. These persistent errors in basic grammar make the text difficult to read and demonstrate a lack of control over sentence formation.
