Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, stopping abruptly at 104 words and leaving the final paragraph incomplete. While an attempt is made to present an overview and select some main features (such as the general upward trend for first-time visitors and the decline from 2000 to 2002), the severe under-length prevents full development of the task. Key trends for returning visitors are largely missing, and the incomplete final sentence significantly limits task completion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text attempts a logical structure with a separate introductory sentence, a basic overview paragraph, and a body paragraph detailing specific data points. However, because the response ends abruptly mid-sentence, overall progression is severely disrupted. Cohesive devices are minimal, with phrases like 'As per the details' and 'Moreover' used mechanically. Paragraphing is also affected by the unfinished nature of the writing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate basic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'decline', 'increase', and 'significant growth'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, including 'illustrate' instead of 'illustrates', 'caryl Island' (capitalisation error), 'visiters', and 'numbers were fluctuated'. These inaccuracies, combined with a limited range of vocabulary, restrict the score to this band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control is inconsistent. There are direct grammatical errors such as 'The provided line graph illustrate' (subject-verb agreement) and 'The numbers were fluctuated' (incorrect passive voice). Additionally, punctuation and sentence completeness issues are evident, particularly with the dangling 'Moreover,' at the end of the text. Errors occur frequently enough to cause some difficulty, though basic meaning is usually retrievable.
