Student answer (Band 5.0)
The line graph illustrates the number of visitors who have visited the iland for the first time and the visitors who are living the iland from 2000 to 2008.
Overall, it can be seen that returing visitors are incresing over the period and the visitor who came for the first time are less.
In 2000, the visitors who came for the first time are more then the visitor who return which was 8000 and 3000 respectively. Moreover, in 2002 the first time visitors numbers are decresed by 4000 and returning visitors numbers had incresed by 10000. Then after 2 years the first time visitors number are incresed by 6000 and returing vistors number are 12000.
Furthermore, in 2006 the first time visitors number had incresed by 9000 and returing visitors number was at its peak which was morethan 14000. After, in 2008 the returing visitors number was decresed by 13000 and the number of visitors who had came for the first time was almost 12000.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The student attempts to address the task by reporting key figures from the graph, such as the data points for 2000, 2002, 2006, and 2008. However, there are significant misinterpretations of the visual data. For instance, the student states that returning visitors in 2008 'was decresed by 13000' and misreads the category for visitors leaving the island ('visitors who are living the iland'). Furthermore, the overview is extremely basic and contains inaccuracies regarding the trends. Key comparisons are attempted, but the expression of data changes (using 'decreased by' incorrectly to state absolute values) limits the precision required for higher bands. Overall, the task is addressed only partially, aligning with a Band 5.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response is divided into four paragraphs, demonstrating a basic structural framework with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. However, the logical progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and weak cohesive devices. Transitions such as 'Moreover', 'Then after 2 years', and 'Furthermore' are used mechanically. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun use and imprecise tracking of the two visitor groups across the timeline. While the overall arrangement is somewhat coherent, the faulty use of cohesive links and awkward paragraph transitions place this response firmly in the Band 5 category.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The lexical range is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'visitors', 'number', 'increased', and 'decreased'. There are several noticeable spelling errors and inappropriate word choices, such as 'iland' instead of 'island', 'returing' instead of 'returning', and 'living the iland' instead of leaving or referring to the correct category. The misuse of words to describe data trends (e.g., stating numbers 'decreased by' a specific large value rather than reaching that value) restricts the score. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader, fitting the Band 5 descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'the visitor who return', 'first time visitors numbers are decresed') and tense inconsistencies. Punctuation is basic, and awkward phrasing such as 'the number of visitors who had came for the first time' further reduces grammatical accuracy. Because errors are frequent and occasionally cause confusion regarding the data being reported, this performance reflects a Band 5.
