Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 150 words, stopping abruptly at only 130 words with an unfinished sentence. While the student attempts an overview and describes some data points, the summary is incomplete and contains factual inaccuracies regarding the chart details (for instance, incorrectly stating that both visitor types were equal in 2001, whereas the graph shows 2002 data, and citing incorrect figures). Key trends are only partially explored due to the truncated length, impacting the overall development and task coverage significantly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay attempts a standard structure with an introduction and body paragraphs, but the logical flow is disrupted by inaccurate data reporting and abrupt paragraph breaks. Cohesive devices are used minimally and sometimes inappropriately, such as 'Where there is a drastical change'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is incomplete, preventing a clear overall progression. Referencing between sentences lacks precision, making the relationships among the data points somewhat difficult to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent word choice and collocation errors, such as 'returning time visitors' and 'drastical change'. Spelling mistakes also occur, including 'vistors' instead of visitors and 'decrease' instead of decreased. While the student attempts some task-specific vocabulary related to graphs ('rose rapidly', 'steady'), the overall lexical range is limited and minimally adequate, resulting in noticeable errors that occasionally impede understanding.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The text displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple clauses with frequent grammatical inaccuracies. Examples of errors include tense inconsistencies ('The line graph illustrated' instead of illustrates) and awkward phrasing ('the both return visitors'). Attempts at complex structures are flawed, and punctuation is occasionally neglected, such as the incomplete concluding sentence. Errors are frequent throughout the short text, though basic meaning remains partially discernible.
