Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by presenting an overview and reporting key features and comparisons between first-time and returning visitors from 2000 to 2008. However, some aspects of the task are developed unevenly. For instance, the overview contains vague phrasing such as 'reached the all time peak which often carry by drastically rise in numbers' and 'fluctuauted growth', which makes the overall trends slightly unclear. The specific figures for 2006 and 2008 in the body paragraphs also contain inaccuracies when compared against the visual data, such as stating that returning visitors 'rose to 15000 in 2006' or describing the endpoint of 2008 less precisely. To reach a higher band, the overview should be more precise, and data points should be reported with greater accuracy without relying on vague or mechanical summaries.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure separating the introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. Information is generally sequenced logically following the timeline of the graph. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. Devices such as 'Apart from this' are used awkwardly to transition between categories, and referencing is not always clear, as seen in sentences like 'suddenly the visitors are declined'. Paragraphing is present, but the internal logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother and better connected. To improve Coherence and Cohesion, you should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that referencing links ideas clearly across sentences without abrupt shifts.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'footfall', 'peak', and 'fluctuated'. However, there are notable word-choice, word-form, and spelling errors throughout the text, including 'fluctuauted', 'peoples', 'staright', and awkward phrasing like 'carry by drastically rise'. These lexical inaccuracies do not completely impede communication, but they restrict the response to a modest band. To achieve a higher score, you need to demonstrate greater precision in word choice and spelling, ensuring that collocations and derived forms (such as nouns versus verbs) are used correctly and naturally in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like 'while, the first time visitors experienced...' and 'the returning visitors who visit island again'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as tense inconsistencies ('compared', 'reached', 'are declined', 'islands visit'), missing articles ('the caryl island'), and faulty subject-verb agreement or relative clauses. Although these errors rarely impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the grammar score from rising. To improve, you need to work on maintaining consistent past-tense verbs for past timeline data, control subject-verb agreement more carefully, and refine complex clause structures.
