Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response attempts to address the prompt by discussing visitor numbers on Caryl Island, but it misidentifies the visual aid as a 'Pie chart' rather than a line graph. Furthermore, the selection of data is erratic and difficult to follow, with confusing references to dates and figures such as 'visitors of 2000 and 4000 in between'. While the writer tries to make some comparisons between first-time and returning visitors, the lack of a clear, accurate overview and the misinterpretation of data mean the response only minimally covers the task requirements. To improve, you must accurately identify the chart type, select key trends systematically, and report data points without confusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear overall progression and logical structure. The introduction starts abruptly, and the body paragraphs are disjointed and difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or incorrectly, such as 'So, At first;' and 'At all of them concluded, the result are given to that'. Paragraphing is not used effectively to separate distinct ideas or data trends, which forces the reader to struggle to understand how the information is connected. To progress, you should organize your writing into a logical structure with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for main features, and an overview, using standard transition phrases naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
Vocabulary usage is very basic, repetitive, and heavily strained by frequent word-choice and word-form errors. The writer uses unnatural phrasing throughout, such as 'wents caryl island', 'visitored', and 'visitors impeccable to less than 14000 visitors'. Spelling and morphological mistakes are prominent, which impedes clear communication and obscures the intended meaning of the data description. To achieve a higher band, you need to expand your vocabulary range beyond basic terms, learn correct word forms (e.g., noun forms versus verb forms), and practice standard collocations used in academic reports.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, and nearly every sentence contains noticeable errors. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement, tense usage, missing articles, and incorrect prepositions, such as 'the first time visitor starts from 8000 people whose visited' and 'the returning visitors also starts from it's lowest point'. Punctuation is also heavily misused, with commas and semicolons appearing in incorrect places. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring verbs agree with their subjects, and eliminating frequent grammatical slips.
