Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response makes an attempt to address the prompt by reporting on visitors to Caryl Island, but it only partially covers the data. The overview section is extremely confusing, featuring vague phrases like 'the maximum value of the first time visitors is average' and inaccurate time references. Furthermore, the body paragraphs contain significant data misinterpretations, such as stating that returning visitors started in 2008 and misreading key data points from the chart. While some figures like 8000 in 2000 are correctly identified, the overall selection and reporting of main features and comparisons are weak and lack clarity, placing this aspect of the writing firmly within the lower achievement range.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which provides a basic structure, but there is a lack of clear overall progression and logical flow between ideas. Sentences often feel disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is frequently mechanical or inaccurate, as seen in transitions like 'then after they again popular' and 'then after the number down'. Referencing is also problematic, with unclear pronouns and subject shifts that make it difficult for the reader to follow which visitor category is being discussed. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical development within those paragraphs requires much stronger organization and transitional linking.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is very limited and repetitive, with frequent word choice and word formation errors that impede communication. Examples include awkward phrasing such as 'proportion how many individuals tourists visited first time', 'going back tourists', and 'twevel thousands'. Word forms are often misused, such as 'individusld starting to visited' instead of individuals starting to visit. The writer attempts some less common terms related to trends, but these attempts contain noticeable errors in collocation and style, which restricts the lexical score to a basic, restricted level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is quite limited, relying heavily on simple sentence structures and basic clauses. When the writer attempts more complex structures, they are frequently faulty, leading to frequent errors in tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions. Examples of grammatical breakdowns include 'its number of visitors is 8000 then after they are steadily down' and 'which number in between 2000 to 4000'. Punctuation is also weak, with run-on sentences and missing boundary markers that cause difficulty and confusion for the reader throughout the text.
