Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response sits at this level because the length requirement is not met, as the text contains only 137 words (excluding 8 copied words from the prompt) which falls short of the 150-word minimum. The writer attempts to cover the task by discussing both first-time and returning visitors, but the response is minimal and tangentially structured. While some data points are mentioned, such as the 8000 first-time visitors in 2000, the selection and reporting of main features is very limited. Key trends across the period are not fully or accurately reported, and the overview merely restates the prompt using repetitive vocabulary like "line table" and "illustrates" without effectively summarising the overall trends.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

Cohesion and logical progression are weak throughout the text, keeping the response at this band. Information and ideas are not arranged coherently; instead of structured paragraphs, the text consists of a single clump of sentences that lack clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are either missing or used inaccurately, such as abrupt transitions like "Firstly", "But after a 2000", and "Afterthat". Reference words are also confusingly handled, with repetitive use of pronouns like "his" to refer to visitor numbers, making the logical relationships between sentences difficult to follow for the reader.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, reflecting the constraints of this band. The student relies heavily on simple words and repeats phrases such as "number of visitors", "first time visitors", and "Caryl IsIand" multiple times. There are noticeable lexical errors, such as spelling mistakes ("graps" instead of graph, "IsIand" instead of Island) and awkward word choices like "vistied", "vistors", and referring to visitor numbers with the pronoun "his". While the general topic is understandable, the limited range and frequent errors in word form and spelling prevent the writing from reaching a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple and flawed sentence structures. There are frequent errors in basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement and tense usage, such as "in 2000 had 8000 visitors" and "number of visitors lower". Prepositions and article usage are also problematic, as seen in phrases like "first time visited at Caryl IsIand" and "for visited". These frequent errors and the lack of varied, complex sentence patterns cause difficulty for the reader and mean the grammar remains constrained.
