Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You successfully address all parts of the task by selecting and reporting the main features of the line graph regarding visitors to Caryl Island. An overview is present, highlighting the contrasting trends between first-time and returning visitors over the period. However, certain parts of your response show under-developed ideas or slight inaccuracies in data reporting, which prevents you from achieving a higher band. For example, you state that returning visitors 'reached its peak and observed a decline around 13000 visitors' between 2006 and 2008, whereas the peak actually occurred in 2006 at around 15200 before dropping to 13400 in 2008. Similarly, your description of the first-time visitors' trend in the final paragraph lacks complete precision. To reach the next level, ensure that all reported figures closely match the visual data and extend your comparisons more fully across the entire timeline.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

Your response maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a logical division into paragraphs, featuring an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs detailing specific data points. Progression is generally visible as you move chronologically through the years. However, cohesion at times feels mechanical or is slightly faulty, and referencing is not always entirely clear. For instance, transitional phrases like 'after that it increased massively' or 'However, number of first time visitors' lack smooth integration. Furthermore, some pronoun referencing and article usage within transitional links require tighter control. To achieve a higher band, you need to use cohesive devices more flexibly and ensure that relationships between sentences and paragraphs are fluid and natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'fluctuated', 'significant growth', and 'continuously rose'. However, there are notable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and phrasing that reflect a limited control over lexical items. For example, phrases like 'new visitors and usual visitors', 'drop in start', and 'continuous rose' contain awkward word forms or incorrect collocations. Additionally, spelling and word-form slips occur. While these issues do not seriously impede communication, they restrict your score within this criterion. To improve, focus on precise collocations and ensure that word forms, such as nouns and verbs, are used accurately in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You display a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting various structures to report the data. Sentences such as 'the trend of returning visitors experienced significant growth showing a slight drop at the end' show an ability to combine clauses. However, there are several errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text. These include missing articles ('number of first time visitors' instead of 'the number'), preposition errors ('in 2000 to 2004' instead of 'From 2000 to 2004'), and subject-verb agreement issues. Although these errors rarely impede overall communication, their persistent presence prevents you from demonstrating the frequent error-free sentences required for a higher band. To progress, pay closer attention to articles, prepositions, and grammatical consistency.
