Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both visitor groups and identify the main broad movements: first-time visitors fall initially and then rise, while returning visitors climb to a high point before declining. Several figures are also reported accurately, including 8,000 and 4,000 for first-time visitors and 10,000 in 2002 for returning visitors. However, the overview contains important inaccuracies: first-time visitors did not peak at the start, and returning visitors did not fluctuate between 2002 and 2006; they rose steadily from about 10,000 to 15,200. The final comparison is also reversed: returning visitors ended higher, at about 13,400, than first-time visitors, at about 11,800. Select and compare the key turning points more precisely to make the summary clearer and more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and separate paragraphs for the two visitor groups. This gives the reader a generally coherent route through the information, and phrases such as “In contrast” help signal comparison. The progression is not fully clear, however, because the overview says returning visitors fluctuated and later declined, while the detail paragraph repeats this account rather than clarifying the steady rise to 2006 and subsequent fall. Some linking words, including “Hence” and “Subsequently,” are used where the relationship between ideas is not quite logical. Improve cohesion by grouping the two series around shared time periods or turning points, and use transitions that accurately express sequence and contrast.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of trend vocabulary, including “decreased drastically,” “increased,” “fluctuating,” and “reduced steadily,” so the main movements are usually understandable. However, several choices are imprecise or unnatural for describing a graph: “accounted for lower portion,” “witnessed in high number,” and “ended with figures” do not express the data naturally. “First timed visitors” is also an inaccurate form, and “flucctuating” contains a spelling error. These issues limit precision, particularly when describing comparisons and changes. Aim for standard collocations such as “the number of visitors fell,” “rose to,” and “stood at,” and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including “Although” is not used, but clauses such as “getting a rise from 4000 to almost 12000 by the end of 2008” show an effort to add detail to a sentence. Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical and punctuation errors recur. For example, “the first time visitors were at peak” is missing an article, and “the returning visitors increased upto two years only” has an awkward sentence structure. There are also inconsistent capital letters after full stops and missing spaces after punctuation, as in “2002.Afterwards.” Use complete, clearly formed clauses and check articles, sentence boundaries and punctuation to make the relationships between figures easier to follow.
