Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover the main movements and make relevant comparisons: first-time visitors fall from about 8,000 to 4,000 before rising, while returning visitors climb from roughly 3,000 to a peak of about 15,000 and then decline. The overview identifies the contrasting patterns, and most figures are close to the chart. However, the overview says returning visitors “slightly decreased” in 2006, although they actually rose to their highest point then; the fall occurs between 2006 and 2008. The final paragraph also gives first-time visitor figures as 10,000 and 12,000, rather than approximately 9,300 and 11,800. These inaccuracies and the limited explanation of the overall endpoint comparison keep some features less fully reported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the data chronologically. This makes the main stages reasonably easy to follow, and connectors such as “while,” “in contrast,” and “Consequently” show attempts to link comparisons. However, some links are mechanical or do not express the relationship accurately. “Consequently” does not show a cause-and-effect relationship between the figures, and the overview’s statement that returning visitors decreased in 2006 conflicts with the later account. Some references, such as “both,” are also imprecise. Grouping the figures by trend and using clearer transitions between the rise, peak, and final decline would make progression more consistent.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a range of relevant terms, including “decline dramatically,” “increased moderately,” “rose,” and “edged up,” so the reader can understand the broad trends. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “numerous individuals,” “visit first time,” “increased sharpenly,” and “larger impact on them.” Repetition of “visitors” and “number of individuals” also limits flexibility. There are spelling errors in “begining” and “upto,” and “thousand” is repeatedly added after figures that are already expressed in thousands, making the data harder to interpret. Aim for precise chart language and check spelling and collocations; for example, use “first-time visitors” and “rose sharply.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including comparisons with “while” and “although,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, some errors recur in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “first time visitors has start” should be “first-time visitor numbers started,” while “returning visitors has the lowest number” needs plural agreement or a different subject. The sentence beginning “In 2000, at the begining” has faulty punctuation and an unclear clause structure, and “there is 8000 thousand visitors” uses an inappropriate tense and construction. These errors sometimes make relationships between figures less clear. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build comparisons with controlled clauses, checking subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries.
