Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the two visitor groups and give a relevant overall contrast: first-time visitors fall before rising, while returning visitors rise and then decline. The opening figures (8,000 and approximately 3,000 in 2000) also match the graph. However, the report stops mid-sentence at “After few years when” and gives no later figures or comparisons, so it only minimally covers the data and leaves the main trends incomplete. The response is also 63 words, well below the required 150; the 11 words copied from the task prompt were excluded from that count. To improve, complete the account with the key changes in both series, including their peaks and end values, and ensure the summary meets the minimum length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview and a detail paragraph, and “Overall” and “whereas” help signal comparison. This gives the reader some indication of the intended structure. However, the progression breaks down because the final paragraph ends abruptly with “After few years when,” leaving the comparison unfinished and the information difficult to follow. The overview also compresses several changes into one sentence without developing them in a clear sequence. Complete each paragraph, then present the figures chronologically and use clear links such as “By 2002” and “thereafter” to guide the reader through the trends.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is sufficient to identify the topic and communicate the broad trends, using phrases such as “first time visitors,” “big drop,” “constant increase” and “grown dramatically.” However, the range is limited, and some choices are informal or imprecise for an academic report: “big drop” could be more formal, while “constant increase” does not clearly describe a rise that changes in size. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “visitiors,” “wheares,” “fist” and “returing,” which reduce accuracy. Aim to use a wider set of precise trend terms and check spelling carefully; this will make the description clearer and more appropriate to the task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a compound sentence to contrast the two groups, and the opening sentence is understandable. However, the range of structures is limited, and errors recur in the longer sentence: “first time visitors had a big drop … after that it had a constant increase” has unclear pronoun reference and awkward clause connection. In “After few years when,” the article is missing and the sentence is incomplete. The phrase “In 20000” also contains an incorrect year form. Practise writing complete sentences with clear subjects and accurate links between clauses, for example, “After falling in 2002, the figure rose steadily.” Proofread for articles, tense consistency and sentence completion.
