Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify both visitor groups and report the broad pattern that first-time visitors fell initially while returning visitors rose and later declined. However, the overview is incomplete and includes an inaccurate comparison: returning visitors were not higher throughout, since first-time visitors outnumbered them in 2000. Several figures are also substantially misreported: first-time visitors reached about 9,300 in 2006 and 11,800 in 2008, not 10,000 and 120,000; returning visitors peaked at about 15,200 and ended near 13,400, not 150,000 and 130,000. These errors make the account only minimally informative. The response also falls 16 words short of the required 150. Include a clear overview and accurately select key figures and comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the two visitor groups. The phrase “In contrast” also signals a comparison between the series. However, progression is weakened by unclear or awkward links, such as “Again in that year visitors start visiting” and “from the same year to 2008,” which make the timeline difficult to follow. The overview repeats information rather than clearly summarising the main trends, and the comparison between groups is not developed consistently. Organise the details in chronological order, use precise references to years, and connect the two series directly when comparing their peaks and endpoints.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “first time visitors,” “returning visitors,” “decreased,” and “fell off,” so the topic remains identifiable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural: “high than” and “high comparatively” do not express the comparison correctly, while “first comers” is unsuitable for this chart. Spelling errors such as “increasd” and the misspelling “Cryl” also reduce accuracy. The very large figures written as “120000” and “150000” further undermine clarity, although the underlying issue is inaccurate reporting. Use standard terms such as “first-time visitors,” “higher than,” “rose,” and “reached a peak,” and check spelling and number formatting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer constructions, and the paragraphing helps separate the two groups. Nevertheless, grammatical control is inconsistent, with errors in comparison, tense, and sentence construction. For example, “the number of returning visitors was high than first comers” has an incorrect comparative form, and “visitors start visiting” shifts into the present tense while describing past data. The sentence beginning “Again in that year” is also awkwardly formed, and “from 20004 till 2008” does not create a clear grammatical time expression. Use the past simple consistently for the historical period, form comparisons with “higher than,” and build complete, direct sentences around each change.
