Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify both visitor groups and give a broad account of their changes, including the first-time visitors’ fall and recovery and the returning visitors’ rise followed by a decline. However, some key details are inaccurate or unclear: returning visitors were about 3,000 in 2000, not 2002, and the first-time figure in 2008 was about 11,800 rather than exactly 12,000. The claim that returning visitors fell by 30% is not supported; the decrease from roughly 15,200 to 13,400 is much smaller. The overview also says returning numbers increased while first-time numbers decreased, which misses their later rises and the returning series’ final fall. Select the main trends accurately and compare the two series more clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to separate descriptions of the two visitor groups. Time markers such as “In 2000,” “In 2004,” and “By 2008” help the reader follow the chronology. However, progression is weakened by unclear or misplaced links. “Moving on to the number of visitors returned in 2002” gives the wrong starting year, while “Whereas” begins a fragment rather than a complete contrast. The overview’s “While … whereas” construction is also repetitive and confusing. Use one clear paragraph for each series, connect comparisons directly, and ensure each linking word expresses the relationship intended.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “number of visitors,” “decline,” “drastic rise,” and “record,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the report difficult to read naturally. Examples include “a increased record,” “instanly rosed,” “breaking record,” and “the peoples visited.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “illusrates,” “compairson,” and “vistors.” Use precise terms for graph movement and check spelling and word forms carefully. More accurate choices such as “rose,” “reached a peak,” and “fell” would make the trends clearer without requiring overly elaborate vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some complex structures, including “which dropped in 2002 at 4000” and “While … whereas …,” but these are often faulty, and many sentences contain errors in agreement, articles, or sentence construction. For example, “the number of vistors are identified” should use a singular verb, while “Whereas tourist in 2002 instantly rosed by 10000” is not a complete, well-formed sentence. The opening sentence also has an unclear structure, making the relationship between first-time and returning visitors hard to understand. Build reliable simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses with correct punctuation. Check subject–verb agreement and make sure every sentence has a clear subject and main verb.
