Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify both visitor groups and describe the main overall movements: returning visitors rise to a peak before falling, while first-time visitors fall initially and then recover. Several figures are also broadly accurate, including 3,000 and 8,000 in 2000 and the 2002 values. However, the overview is not fully reliable: you say first-time visitors reach 12,000 by 2008, whereas the graph shows about 11,800, and you describe returning visitors as increasing continuously before later mentioning the decline. The opening comparison that first-time visitors were “high” at the start is also unclear without specifying that they outnumbered return visitors. Select the key turning points and state the overall comparison more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic progression from an opening summary to year-by-year details, and the two visitor groups are often contrasted using “whereas.” This gives the reader a general sense of the trends. However, the organisation is repetitive: the opening repeats information that is then restated in the body, and several sentences begin with “Whereas” or “After,” making the links mechanical. The overview also says returning numbers rise continuously, which conflicts with the later account of a fall after 2006. Use a distinct overview followed by a concise comparison of the main stages, and connect related figures within fewer, more clearly structured sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant basic terms such as “number,” “increases,” “decreases,” and “reaches,” so the main trends can generally be understood. However, the vocabulary is repetitive and several choices or collocations are inaccurate, including “goes down fastly,” “increases in a noticeable fashion,” and “reach to.” Spelling errors such as “vistiors,” “returing,” and “continusely” are also noticeable and reduce precision. Aim for a more controlled range of trend language, for example “declined sharply,” “rose steadily,” “peaked at,” and “fell slightly.” Check spelling carefully and use standard collocations such as “reached 10,000” rather than “reach to 10 thousand.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to combine ideas with contrast and time clauses, as in “Whereas, the number of new visitors decreases to 4 thousand in year 2002,” but the response relies mainly on simple sentence patterns and repeated structures. Errors in verb forms and agreement occur throughout: “The line graph illustrate” needs a singular verb, and “the number … start increasing” needs an appropriate past-tense form. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “in year 2002” and the opening line, which lacks a full stop. These errors sometimes make the timeline harder to follow. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and vary sentence structures while checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation.
