Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the two visitor groups and give some relevant comparisons, including the fall in first-time visitors from 8,000 to 4,000 and the rise in returning visitors from 3,000 to 10,000 by 2002. However, the account is only partial: it omits the later peak and decline in returning visitors, and does not report the first-time visitors’ recovery to about 11,800 by 2008. The claim that both groups rise from 2002 to 2006 is broadly accurate, but the final comment about first-time visitors moving upward does not compare the series or explain the returning visitors’ fall. The response is also 15 words below the required minimum. Include a concise overview and cover the main changes across the full period.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic overall shape: an introduction is followed by a paragraph beginning “Overall,” and linking expressions such as “Additionally” and “Moreover” show an attempt to connect points. However, the ideas do not progress clearly from an overview to a systematic account of the two lines. Several details are crowded into one long paragraph, and the final sentence introduces a vague conclusion rather than completing the comparison. Some linking is mechanical, while phrases such as “among 2006 and 2008” make the relationship between dates unclear. Organise the report into a short overview and a body that compares the series in chronological order, using clear references to each visitor group.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “first time visitors,” “returning visitors,” “increases,” and “gradually,” so the reader can identify the subject and general movements. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. “Population” is not appropriate for visitor numbers, and “positive aspects about first comers” is vague and informal for describing a graph. Repetition of “data” and “visitors” also limits flexibility. Choose precise trend language and collocations, such as “the figure for,” “rose sharply,” “reached a peak,” and “declined,” while avoiding evaluative wording like “positive aspects.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt longer sentences and use clauses with “which” and “that,” but complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the report difficult to follow. For example, “the number of first time tourists are slightly decreases” has problems with agreement and verb form; “the population … are gradually increases” repeats this pattern. The phrase “from eight to four thousands” also shows difficulty with number forms, while “the line move upward” lacks subject–verb agreement. Use the past simple consistently for the period shown, check singular subjects such as “the number,” and build shorter, accurate sentences before adding subordinate clauses.
