Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main overall contrast: first-time visitors fall initially and then rise, while returning visitors climb to a peak before declining. The figures you give for 2000 and 2002 for first-time visitors are accurate, and your estimates of the returning-visitors peak and final level are broadly consistent with the graph. This covers the task and includes a relevant overview. However, some details are less fully reported: first-time visitors reach about 11,800 in 2008, not around 12,000 after “6 years” of continuous growth, since the rise begins in 2002 after the low point. The overview also says returning visitors are the highest without specifying that they lead from 2002 onward. More precise comparisons and clearer reporting of the stages would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and separate paragraphs for the two visitor groups. This makes the main information reasonably easy to locate. However, progression within sentences is sometimes unclear, and linking is occasionally mechanical or incomplete. For example, “While returning visitors goes up…” is a fragment-like transition, and “After 2006 the population of visitors started to decreased” does not clearly connect the decline to the earlier peak. The phrase “Between the period of 2 years” is repeated but does not explain a meaningful comparison. Use complete sentences and organise each detail in chronological order, with clear links such as “By contrast” and “Thereafter.” This would make cohesion more natural and references easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “first time visitors,” “returning visitors,” “significant increase” and “reached,” so the reader can understand the topic and broad trends. There is some attempt to vary wording, but several choices are imprecise or unnatural for describing a graph. “Portion” suggests a share rather than a number, while “population of visitors” is not an appropriate label for visitor totals. Phrases such as “the rate of returning visitors is less” also do not clearly describe the fall in numbers. Spelling errors, including “betwwen” and “continuosely,” further reduce accuracy. Aim for precise terms such as “number,” “figure,” “rose,” “fell” and “peaked,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, control is uneven: errors occur in verb agreement, tense, infinitive forms and sentence construction. For example, “The line graph illustrate” needs subject–verb agreement, while “returning visitors goes up” should use a plural verb. In “started to decreased,” the verb form after “to” is incorrect, and “reached up to around 15000 visitors from less than 4000 visitors” lacks a clear grammatical structure for the comparison. Some sentences also join ideas awkwardly, as in the overview’s “While…” construction. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build complete sentences around a clear subject and verb; this will improve reliability while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
