Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify both visitor groups and report several key movements, including the first-time visitors’ fall from about 8,000 to 4,000 and the returning visitors’ rise from 3,000 to around 10,000 by 2002. The overview also recognises that returning visitors generally had higher figures and that the two series moved in opposite directions at the end. However, some reporting is incomplete or inaccurate: first-time visitors reached about 11,800 in 2008, not 12,000 exactly, and returning visitors peaked at roughly 15,200 in 2006 before falling to about 13,400, rather than simply “13000.” The overview is broad and does not clearly summarise the peak and contrasting end trends. Select the main turning points and compare the series more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and separate paragraphs for the two visitor groups. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “On the other hand” signal a comparison. However, progression within the final paragraph becomes difficult to follow: “Secondly,” “Furthermore,” “lastly,” and “Additionally” are used mechanically, and the final sentence repeats the comparison without clearly connecting it to the preceding details. Some references, such as “the line” and “the second line,” are not always precise. Organise the body around the two series or compare them at matching years, and use fewer, more purposeful linking expressions so each sentence advances the summary.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant trend vocabulary, including “downward trend,” “increases gradually,” “sharply increased,” and “drop,” so the main movements are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices are unnatural or imprecise for describing a graph, such as “massive numbers,” “the line recorded,” and “the highest numbers than first line.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “fist,” “continuosly,” and “upwrard,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for concise, conventional collocations and vary the language without forcing emphatic terms. For example, describe figures as “rose sharply” or “reached a peak,” rather than saying a line “recorded” numbers.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast introduced by “However” and a relative clause in the opening. Nevertheless, errors are frequent, and some complex constructions are difficult to interpret. Examples include “over 8 years period,” “the first time visitors lowers values,” and “the returning visitors … shows,” where articles, agreement and sentence structure are not controlled. The clause beginning “which is 12000 visitors” is also incomplete in its connection to the preceding sentence. Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, particularly after semicolons and at “lastly.” Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and tense consistency when describing past data.
