Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the two visitor groups and describe their main directions: returning visitors rise overall before falling, while first-time visitors fall initially and then increase. The figures you include are broadly consistent with the graph, including the starting values and the later peak for returning visitors. However, the overview is not fully precise: the first-time series rises through 2008, and the returning series peaks in 2006 before declining. Some details are also unclear or incomplete, particularly the final first-time figure, which is left without a clear year or comparison. To strengthen the report, state the key turning points and end values explicitly, and compare the two groups at the end of the period.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate detail paragraphs for returning and first-time visitors. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “Looking at the graph in more detail,” and “On the other hand” help guide the reader, and the two series are generally easy to follow. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some stronger control through paragraphing and progression. However, a few links are mechanical or do not express the relationship precisely, such as “Driven by this boom,” and the final sentence stops before completing the comparison. Use transitions that clearly mark time or contrast, and ensure each paragraph develops to a complete endpoint.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “downward trend,” “gradual,” “sharp increase,” “peak,” and “decline,” so the main movements are usually understandable. There are also attempts at more descriptive language, such as “boom,” although this is less suitable for a neutral graph report. Spelling and word-form errors are noticeable, including “intially,” “dipp,” “experineced,” “upwaed,” and “Fruthermore.” Some combinations are also unnatural, for example “approached at it peak” and “hit 12000.” Aim for accurate, neutral collocations and check spelling carefully; this would make your vocabulary more precise without needing more elaborate wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including contrast clauses with “while” and “although” and time sequences using “then.” The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. Examples include “a upward trend,” “From the next years its experienced,” “more people were came,” and “which showed an sharp increase.” These involve articles, verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction. The final sentence is also incomplete, ending with “hit 12000” without finishing the thought. Practise forming complete past-tense sentences and checking articles and subject–verb relationships. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentence attempts easier to read.
