Student answer (Band 4.5)

this graph shows the average of tow type of visitors. one is about that visitors who first time vists the island and the second is about visitors who returned back from that island . the ghraph shows thier figures for this the blue line is for that visitorss who visits the island 1st time and the blue line is for that visitors who returns from the island during 2000 - 2008.

according to graph the number of visitors in 2000 was 8000 which comes 4000 in 2004 which means number of visitors is decrese in this duration. after 2004 there is remarkable increment in visitors as shown on the ghraph it reaches at 12000.

on the other hand the figuer of people who retun back to the island was less then 4000 in 2000 and this figure is continueslly increasing yearly and reseached upto 14000 in the mid of 2004 - 2006 but after this in 2006 suddenly the figuers come down and now in 2008 it is below the 14000.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify both visitor groups and make some relevant comparisons, including the first-time figure of 8,000 in 2000 and the returning-visitor peak around 2006. However, the account only minimally reports the graph’s main features and contains important inaccuracies. First-time visitors fell to 4,000 in 2002, not 2004, and rose to about 11,800 by 2008, rather than simply “reaching at 12000” without a clear year. Returning visitors rose from about 3,000 to 15,200 in 2006, then declined to roughly 13,400; the response gives the peak as occurring midway through 2004–2006 and does not clearly report the 2008 value. Add a concise overview and accurately describe the key turning points and end values.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the response begins by introducing the two series, then discusses first-time visitors before turning to returning visitors. Phrases such as “on the other hand” help signal a comparison. However, the opening repeats the graph description and is difficult to follow, while the body does not consistently progress through the years in a clear sequence. References such as “this duration,” “this figure,” and “after this” are sometimes unclear, and the final sentence leaves the reader to infer which series and year are being discussed. Use separate, focused paragraphs and connect each trend to its dates, for example, describing the first-time series from 2000 to 2002 and then its subsequent rise.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

Your vocabulary is sufficient to identify the two categories and describe basic movement, with phrases such as “number of visitors,” “increasing,” and “come down.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the report less clear, including “returned back from that island,” “the average of tow type,” and “the figure is continuously increasing yearly.” Spelling errors such as “ghraph,” “figuer,” and “reseached” are also noticeable and can distract the reader. Choose precise trend language and avoid repetition: for example, use “returning visitors,” “rose steadily,” “peaked,” and “declined.” Check spelling carefully, especially in key terms used throughout the report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a comparison introduced by “on the other hand,” but control is uneven. Errors in verb forms and agreement appear in phrases such as “the number of visitors … comes 4000,” “this figure is continueslly increasing,” and “the figuers come down.” Articles and sentence construction are also problematic in “the average of tow type of visitors,” while the opening contains a long run-on sentence with repeated clauses. These errors sometimes make the timeline and meaning difficult to follow. Build clearer sentences with a consistent past tense for the historical data, such as “The figure fell to 4,000 in 2002, then rose to 11,800 by 2008,” and check subject–verb agreement and punctuation.
