Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify both visitor groups and report several key movements, including the returning-visitor rise to about 15,000 in 2006 and its subsequent fall. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: you say first-time visitors were 8,000 in 2008, although the figure is about 12,000, and the final claim that first-time visitors experienced a “great decrease” contradicts their overall rise from 8,000 to nearly 12,000. The first-time series’ initial fall and later recovery are described, but the main comparison between the two groups is not clearly summarised. The response is also 7 words below the 150-word minimum. Select the main trends accurately and provide a concise, consistent overview before supporting it with figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure: an introduction, a paragraph about first-time visitors, one about returning visitors, and a concluding statement. Time markers such as “In 2002,” “By 2004,” and “From 2006 to 2008” help readers follow the chronology. However, progression is weakened by the final paragraph, which repeats the trends but gives a contradictory summary. Linking phrases such as “Furthermore” and “Moreover” are used mechanically, and some sentences run together without spaces after full stops, for example “8000.In 2002.” References such as “this value” are also repetitive and can be unclear. Group the two series in a more purposeful way, use clear comparisons, and check sentence boundaries.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant trend vocabulary, including “risen significantly,” “increased considerably,” and “dropped,” and the reader can generally understand the intended changes. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing a graph. “This is a big achievement” adds an unsupported opinion, while “this graph also define” and “this graph elaborate” do not express the intended meaning naturally. Repeated use of “value” and “amount” also makes the description less precise. Choose neutral reporting language and vary terms for figures and movement, ensuring that each phrase fits the data. For example, describe a figure as reaching a level rather than calling it an achievement.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a sequence of simple sentences and some more complex forms, such as “By 2002, it had risen significantly” and “From 2006 to 2008 it had finally dropped.” However, errors are frequent and sometimes make the relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “the graph describes the value … is 8000,” “this value rapidly decrease,” and “By this continued increase in 2006 it at 15,000,” where sentence structure or verb forms are faulty. There are also inconsistent tense choices and missing punctuation or spacing, as in “8000.In 2002.” Practise accurate past-tense reporting and complete sentence patterns, then proofread for full stops and spaces. Clearer control of these basics would make your information easier to follow.
