Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify both visitor groups and give a broad overview: returning visitors rise before falling, while first-time visitors decline and then increase. However, the account is only partial and under-developed. Several key figures and comparisons are unclear or inaccurate: in 2000, returning visitors were about 3,000, not “less 3000,” and first-time visitors were higher at 8,000; by 2006, returning visitors peaked at about 15,200, a notable feature you omit. The statement that first-time visitors “substantially reduced 4000” does not make clear that this was the 2002 low. The response also falls short of the required 150 words, with 106 words counted (excluding copied prompt wording). Add accurate data at key points and explain the main comparisons more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic structure, with an opening, an overview and a paragraph of details, so the reader can recognise the intended stages of the report. However, progression is limited: the final paragraph moves between years and visitor groups without a clear sequence, and several comparisons are difficult to follow. For example, “Whereas the number of first time visitors substantially reduced 4000 rather than the number of returning visitors 10000” does not clearly connect the two figures. Linking words such as “Moreover,” “However,” and “While” are used, but sometimes mechanically or where the relationship between ideas is unclear. Organise the details chronologically or compare the two series consistently, and use fewer, more precise transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing trends, including “gradually,” “sharply,” “increased,” and “decline,” which helps convey the broad movements. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, making parts of the report difficult to interpret. “The number of returning visitors line” is an awkward way to refer to the series, while “had less 3000” and “reduced 4000” do not express the intended quantities clearly. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “demostrate,” “Isalnd,” and “returing.” Use standard chart language such as “the figure for,” “fell to,” and “rose to,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including sentences beginning with “Whereas” and “While,” and the overall meaning can usually be inferred. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make some comparisons unclear. For example, “the number of returning visitors line considerably rise” has problems with sentence structure, agreement and verb form; “it dramatically decline” also needs a past-tense verb. The comparison “had less 3000 as compare to” contains faulty grammatical patterns, and “who visited in Caryl Island” is not correctly attached to the preceding clause. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and complete comparison structures, and punctuate dependent clauses so that each sentence expresses one clear relationship.
