Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two visitor groups and report several relevant figures, including the fall in first-time visitors from 8,000 to 4,000 by 2002 and the rise in returning visitors to about 15,000 in 2006. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: saying returning visitors were “highest” and first-time visitors “lest” does not clearly summarise the overall pattern, and first-time visitors did not simply decline; after 2002 they rose steadily to about 11,800. The claim that returning visitors increased “day by day” also overlooks their slight fall by 2008. The response is 142 words, below the required 150, and the limited coverage leaves key trends underdeveloped. Add a clear overview and compare both series across the full period.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic sequence, beginning with an introduction and then describing figures from 2000 through 2008. Linking expressions such as “In addition,” “Furthermore,” and “One interesting fact” show an attempt to connect points. However, the ideas do not develop in a consistently clear order: the overview is followed by a detailed sentence beginning “Overall,” and the discussion shifts between the two series without a clear comparison structure. Some links are also awkward or misleading, such as “day by day” for data shown at two-year intervals and “Though” introducing a point that is not clearly contrasted. Use separate overview and detail paragraphs, and group comparisons by trend or time period.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “visitors,” “increased,” “declined dramatically,” and “slightly decreased,” which helps communicate the main subject and changes. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, making parts of the report difficult to interpret. For example, “first time visitors was fluctuated” and “returning visitors was highest” do not express the trends naturally, while “day by day” is unsuitable for the two-year intervals. Spelling errors such as “frist,” “flactuated,” “begining,” and “vistors” are also noticeable. Aim for precise trend language and check spelling; for example, describe a series as “rose steadily” or “reached a peak.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with contrast, as in “In 2006, returning visitors was highest … however first time visitor was only 10000.” This shows some effort to vary sentence forms, but errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships unclear. Subject–verb agreement is a recurring problem: “visitors was” should be “visitors were,” and “first time visitors was declined” needs a different structure, such as “the number of first-time visitors declined.” Articles, punctuation, and sentence boundaries also need attention, particularly in “Carly Island.First time visitors…” and the comma splice around “nearly 15000 howeover.” Use consistent past-tense reporting, plural agreement, and full stops to separate complete ideas.
