Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify both visitor groups and report several relevant figures, including the returning visitors’ rise from about 3,000 in 2000 to a peak near 15,000 in 2006, followed by a fall, and the first-time visitors’ low point in 2002. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: returning visitors did not simply increase “by the end” because their total declined after 2006, while first-time visitors rose to about 11,800 in 2008. The claim that first-time visitors had a “good number” at the start is vague rather than a useful comparison. The response also omits the first-time series’ rise in 2004 and 2006. It is 9 words below the required minimum. Add a clearer overview and more precise comparisons to cover the main features fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic, useful structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the two visitor groups. This helps the reader follow the general subject. However, progression within sentences is sometimes difficult to follow, particularly in the returning-visitors paragraph: “it sharply increased approximately 10000 in the 2002 after that” joins several stages without clear punctuation or grammatical links. The overview’s “while” begins a new sentence but is not capitalised, and the final paragraph ends without a full stop. Linking phrases such as “In addition” do not clearly express the relationship between the two series. Use shorter, complete sentences and organise the body around direct comparisons at the same dates.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “increased,” “decreased,” “sharply,” and “reached,” so the main trends are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or vague. “Good number of visitors” does not describe a trend precisely, and “experienced dramatically increase” is not a natural expression. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “returining,” “dramitically,” and the lower-case spelling of “Caryl.” These errors reduce the accuracy and polish of the report. Build a small set of precise trend phrases—such as “rose steadily,” “peaked at,” and “declined slightly”—and check spelling and collocations before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the reader can usually identify the intended trends. However, control is inconsistent, especially when several events are combined in one sentence. For example, “it sharply increased approximately 10000 in the 2002 after that, it steadily increased” lacks a clear grammatical connection and has faulty punctuation. Other problems include “visitors who came first time,” “increased at 15000,” and “reached at around 13500,” where sentence patterns, articles, or prepositions are not controlled. The overview also begins a new sentence with lower-case “while.” Practise writing one complete sentence for each key change, using accurate past-tense forms and checking that each clause has a clear subject and verb.
