Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify both visitor groups and give an overview of their contrasting patterns: returning visitors rise to a high point and then fall, while first-time visitors recover after an early decline. Several key figures are also included. However, the overview is not fully accurate: first-time visitors did not decline overall across the period, but ended higher than they began, and the returning series peaks at about 15,200 in 2006, not 14,500. The final figures are also understated. Some descriptions are unclear or unsupported, such as “after flucation” and the claim that first-time visitors “remained upward trend” in 2006. To strengthen the report, state the main comparisons precisely and describe each series’ overall direction and turning points accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear four-paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the two visitor groups. This gives the reader a generally coherent route through the information, and transitions such as “Overall,” “In contrast,” and “By comparison” help signal relationships. However, progression within the detail paragraphs is sometimes weakened by unclear links and repetition. For example, “after flucation” does not explain what happened between 2002 and 2004, while “it grew up again in 2002 to 2004” is confusing because the increase occurred from 2002 to 2004. Use time markers consistently and make each sentence describe one clear movement; this would make the organisation more precise and less mechanical.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing trends, including “increased,” “declined,” “rose,” “peak,” and “stood at,” so the main subject is generally understandable. There is also some attempt to vary expressions rather than repeat “number” throughout. However, spelling errors are noticeable, including “visitos,” “visiors,” “visted,” “sharphly,” and “significanty,” and several word combinations are unnatural: “reached at its peak,” “grew up again,” and “remained upward trend.” These reduce precision and sometimes make the description harder to follow. Build a reliable set of trend collocations, such as “reached a peak,” “rose steadily,” and “fell slightly,” and check spelling carefully before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple statements and longer sentences, including comparisons introduced by “whereas” and “In contrast.” However, control of sentence structure and verb forms is inconsistent, which fits this level. Examples include “the number of returning visitors at 2500,” which lacks a main verb, and “it reached at its peak,” where the verb pattern is faulty. The overview also shifts between past and present (“increased” and “has has noticable declined”), and the final detail sentence, “it reached at its peak and remained upward trend,” is not grammatically complete. Practise forming complete past-tense sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles and verb patterns when describing values and peaks.
