Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify both visitor groups and include several relevant figures, such as first-time visitors reaching about 12,000 in 2008 and returning visitors peaking at roughly 15,200 in 2006. However, the account only partially captures the main trends: returning visitors rose to 2006 and then fell, while first-time visitors dipped in 2002 before increasing. The claim that the graph “gradually goes down” is unclear and does not accurately describe the overall pattern; the statement that visitor numbers never decreased drastically also overlooks the sharp fall in first-time visitors from 2000 to 2002. The response is 138 words, below the 150-word minimum. Add a clear overview and compare the series more accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has some organisation: it begins with an introduction, then discusses figures, and ends with an overall statement. This gives the reader a basic sense of structure. However, the progression is not consistently clear, and the overview comes after details rather than guiding the report. Connections between ideas are sometimes difficult to follow, as in “the graph gradually goes down in 2000 with the 2000 visitor,” which does not make the intended comparison clear. Linking phrases such as “Overall” and “further more” are used, but they do not reliably show how the information relates. Group the two series’ trends in a logical order and use clear comparisons to improve flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “first time visitors,” “returning visitor,” “highest number,” and “decrease.” This is enough to communicate the general subject, but the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated. There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, including “arround,” “graphn,” “seperate,” “returing,” and “vistior,” which can distract the reader. Some expressions are imprecise, such as “a great number” and “individuals were there,” where more specific language about visitor totals would be clearer. Build a small range of accurate trend verbs and comparison phrases, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, but control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to understand. For example, “The given image is line graph it shows data” joins clauses without correct punctuation or an article, while “in 2006 has the highest number” has an incorrect verb structure. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and tense, as in “the graph seperate the first and the returing vistior” and “we can analysis.” Sentence boundaries are often unclear, particularly in the final paragraph. Use shorter, complete sentences first, then practise accurate past-tense descriptions and clauses joined with “while” or “whereas.”
