Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify both visitor groups and give a broad overview that returning visitors increased overall, while first-time visitors fell before recovering. Several key figures and trends, however, are inaccurate or unclear, which limits how fully the graph is reported. For example, first-time visitors fell from 8,000 to 4,000 by 2002, not 40,000, and rose to about 11,800 by 2008, not 120,000. Returning visitors peaked at about 15,200 in 2006 before declining to 13,400; describing this as a dramatic fall overstates the change. The overview also says returning visitors rose throughout, although they declined after 2006. Select the main turning points and report approximate values consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the two visitor groups. This helps the reader follow the broad comparison. Linking expressions such as “Meanwhile,” “On the other hand,” and “Furthermore” also show an effort to connect information. However, some connections are mechanical or do not clarify the relationship between figures. The first-time visitor paragraph moves from the initial decline to later changes and then repeats the overall trend in “Finally,” rather than progressing cleanly through the years. Grouping each series’ figures in chronological order and ending with a concise comparison would make the progression clearer. Check that each sentence’s reference, such as “it,” clearly identifies the visitor group or figure.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of trend vocabulary, including “rose dramatically,” “climb marginally,” “peak levels,” and “soar significantly,” and the reader can generally identify whether figures rise or fall. However, vocabulary control is limited by frequent spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word choices, some of which make the data difficult to understand. Examples include “Isalnd,” “tusitor,” “Retuning,” and “visitore”; “came back visitors” is also not a natural label for returning visitors. Phrases such as “become more less” and “hiking dramatically” do not express the intended trends clearly. Use standard graph language consistently, and choose verbs that match the size and direction of each change.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple statements and attempts at longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “while,” “but,” and “after.” However, control of sentence structure and verb forms is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make the timeline or meaning difficult to follow. For example, “the Returning visitors … it go up” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “the First time tusitor decline for few years but after it rise” has incorrect verb forms and an unclear construction. The sentence beginning “On account of” is also incomplete or incorrectly connected to the following idea. Practise forming accurate past-tense sentences, with a clear subject and verb in each clause, before adding linking clauses. This will make your comparisons easier to understand.
