Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the two visitor groups and describe the broad contrast: returning visitors rose overall, while first-time visitors fell initially and then recovered. However, several key details are inaccurate or unclear. First-time visitors reached about 4,000 in 2002, then increased to around 11,800 by 2008; the claim of “tiny fluctuation” in 2004 and 2006 does not reflect this steady rise. Returning visitors peaked at about 15,200 in 2006, not 2003, and then declined to roughly 13,400 in 2008. The overview also says returning visitors were highest without clearly summarising the changing relationship between the groups. Select the main turning points accurately and compare the series at the end of the period to make the report more complete and precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the two visitor groups. This gives the reader a general route through the information. However, progression within the body is difficult to follow because several events and dates are compressed into long, loosely connected sentences. For example, the returning-visitors sentence moves from 2000 to “mid of 2002,” then 2002 again, and then 2003, making the sequence confusing. Linking phrases such as “after that” and “in contrast” are used, but repetition and unclear references weaken cohesion. Organise each series chronologically, use one clear sentence for each major change, and ensure that comparisons refer unambiguously to the relevant year and group.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of trend vocabulary, including “sharp decline,” “significant rise,” “reached,” and “peak point,” which is appropriate for describing a graph. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are frequent, as in “turists,” “visitord,” “experiemced,” “siginificant,” and “decrese.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “the highest proportion” is not suitable for visitor numbers, and “stood at second visited” does not clearly communicate the comparison. Use accurate, conventional collocations such as “the number of visitors,” “rose steadily,” and “reached a peak.” Careful proofreading and a smaller set of well-controlled trend terms would make the information easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There are attempts to connect ideas in longer sentences, but complex structures are often faulty, and errors frequently make the timeline or meaning difficult to follow. For example, “then the it was took over the first visitore” has problems with pronouns and verb form, while “the number grow gradually and stood” shifts tense inconsistently. Articles, prepositions, and sentence boundaries are also unreliable, as in “began to around 2500” and the long sentence beginning “it is clear that.” Use the past simple consistently for this completed period, check subject–verb agreement, and build shorter sentences with a clear subject and verb. Accurate simple sentences should come before attempts to combine several trends.
