Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main contrast: first-time visitors begin higher, while returning visitors rise sharply and finish above their initial level. The overview also notes the returning group’s low starting point and general increase, and most figures are close to the chart. However, the overview is not fully accurate: first-time visitors are highest initially, but returning visitors—not first-time visitors—reach the overall peak in 2006. The final comparison also says new visitors began declining, although they rose after 2002 and continued increasing to 2008. You report the key stages, but these conflicting summaries make some features less clear and developed than others. State the overall peak and the contrasting end-of-period trends precisely to strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about returning visitors, first-time visitors, and a comparison. This gives the reader a generally coherent route through the data. Some linking is effective, such as “By 2004” and “In comparison,” but the final comparison repeats earlier information and introduces a trend that conflicts with the preceding account. The overview is also joined awkwardly to its opening with “Overall,The,” and several detail sentences run together without spaces after commas or full stops. To make progression clearer, group the two series in a more balanced way and use the final paragraph to synthesise their different patterns rather than repeat them.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “accounted for,” “declined,” “reached,” and “figures,” and the reader can generally understand the intended trends. However, the range and control are limited by repeated general terms such as “figures” and “numbers,” as well as inaccurate or unnatural choices: “made the significant grown,” “stood at” for a changing figure, and “stopped at” for the final value. Spelling errors such as “illustates,” “begining,” “reutrning,” and “comparsion” are noticeable and reduce precision. Choose standard trend collocations and check spelling carefully; more accurate wording would make the numerical comparisons easier to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more developed sentence forms, including “The numbers of people who are visiting … started growing again,” and uses past-tense reporting in several places. However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic sentence patterns as well as longer clauses. Examples include “The figures of returning visitors was lowest,” where subject–verb agreement is incorrect, and “it reached at 12,000,” where the verb pattern is faulty. Articles and sentence boundaries are also problematic in “the Caryl island” and “Overall,The number.” These errors sometimes make relationships between figures less clear. Practise accurate past-tense reporting, agreement, articles, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence for a complete and correctly formed structure.
