The line chart illustrates the amount of the first time visitors and the returning visitors of Carlyn Island in the year from 2000 to 2008.
At a glance, it is quite evident that the first time visitors started with a big number with having a downfall but reached on its point end of the year. On the other hand, returning visitors had a downfall end of the year.
Extracting from the line chart, it can be observed that in the year of 2000, the number of the visitors who visited first time in the island was 8000 approximately, where in the next two years it had a great downfall and the amount came in quite half of the total amount with the previous years. However it managed to keep it's visitors till the next years and the number of the visitors increased and reached at nearly 11000 in 2008.
Moreover, returning visitors of Carlyn Island started with just nearly 3000 members but it greatly increased in the year of 2002 with 10000 visitors and in the next years it grew steadily and reached at the peak point in 2006 with the number of about 15000 visitors. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover both visitor groups and report the main movements: first-time visitors fall from about 8,000 to 4,000 before rising, while returning visitors climb to a peak and then decline. The figures are broadly consistent with the graph, although the first-time total in 2008 is closer to 11,800 than 11,000, and the returning total in 2008 is about 13,400. The overview is present, but phrases such as “reached on its point end of the year” do not clearly state the final comparison or the contrasting overall patterns. To make the summary more complete, give a precise overview of the key turning points and compare the two groups at the beginning and end.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs describing each visitor group. This makes the two trends easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “On the other hand,” “However,” and “Moreover” help signal contrasts and additions. Some connections are nevertheless mechanical or unclear. For example, “However it managed to keep it's visitors till the next years” does not clearly explain the transition from the fall to the later rise, and “Nevertheless” introduces the final decline without a clear reference to the preceding peak. Use more direct links between the data points and ensure pronouns such as “it” have an unmistakable referent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of trend vocabulary, including “increased,” “grew steadily,” “peak point,” and “downfall,” so the main movements can generally be understood. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing a graph: “amount of the first time visitors,” “members,” and “reached on its point” do not express the data clearly. “Downfall” is also less suitable than the standard term “decline” in this context. The repeated use of “visitors” and “number” limits flexibility. Aim for precise collocations such as “number of visitors,” “rose to a peak,” and “fell to,” and use “first-time visitors” consistently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “where,” “but,” and “with,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, some sentence structures are faulty or awkward, as in “started with a big number with having a downfall” and “the amount came in quite half of the total amount with the previous years.” There are also errors in articles, prepositions, and verb patterns: “in the year from 2000 to 2008,” “in the island,” and “reached at nearly 11000.” The apostrophe in “it's visitors” is incorrect because the possessive form is “its.” Build shorter, controlled sentences first, then add complex clauses with accurate grammar.
