Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two visitor groups and report several relevant figures, including first-time visitors falling from 8,000 to 4,000 and returning visitors rising from about 3,000 to 15,200 before declining. However, the account is only partial: it does not clearly summarise the overall pattern or compare the groups at key points. The statement that first-time visitors reached 12,000 in 2008 is inaccurate; the graph shows approximately 11,800, while returning visitors were about 13,400. The final trend for returning visitors is also unclear. The response is 23 words below the required minimum, which limits the detail available. Add a concise overview and report the main changes and comparisons accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic sequence: you introduce the two groups, discuss first-time visitors, and then turn to returning visitors. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, the response is presented as one long, loosely connected passage, and progression between points is difficult to follow. Phrases such as “Now we talk about returning visiter” signal a change, but the links between individual figures are often unclear, especially in “from 2000 to 8000 to 12000 to 14000.” Repeated use of “then” and “which” does not clearly show whether figures are comparisons or stages in a trend. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and details, and connect each figure explicitly to its year and visitor group.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “first timing visit,” “returned visit,” “decrease,” and “increasing,” so the reader can recognise the topic and broad trends. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms make the description difficult to interpret, such as “first timing vist,” “return visit is countioes increasing streat,” and “the toatl number of years is 8.” Spelling errors are frequent, and “people” is repeated where “visitors” would be more precise. Aim to use a small set of accurate trend terms and collocations, such as “fell to,” “rose steadily,” and “reached a peak,” while checking spelling and choosing the correct form of each word.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to describe changes over time using simple clauses and some sequencing, but sentence structures are very limited and errors occur throughout. For example, “the first timing vist at strat piont is 8000 then decrease to 4000” lacks a clear subject–verb structure and consistent tense. In “return visit is countioes increasing,” the verb form and sentence construction are faulty. Articles, plurals, and punctuation are also inconsistently controlled, as seen in “the people who vists the carly island.” These errors sometimes make relationships between figures unclear. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and past-tense verb, for example, “First-time visitors fell from 8,000 in 2000 to 4,000 in 2002.”
