Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify both visitor groups and report several relevant movements, including the first-time visitors’ fall from about 8,000 to 4,000, their later rise to around 12,000, and the returning visitors’ decline after 2006. However, the account is only partly complete: the overview focuses mainly on the first-time series and does not clearly compare the two groups or state that returning visitors peaked at about 15,200 in 2006. Some figures are inaccurate: first-time visitors were about 9,300 in 2006, not 10,000, and returning visitors ended at about 13,400, rather than simply “under 14000.” A clearer overview and more accurate comparisons would make the main features better developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure, with an opening, separate paragraphs for details, and a concluding sentence. The sequence from 2000 through 2008 is generally understandable, and phrases such as “In detail” and “From 2006” help signal movement. However, progression is uneven: the overview gives detailed information about the first-time series rather than summarising both lines, while the conclusion repeats earlier trends. Linking is sometimes mechanical or unclear, as in “Likethis” and “The difference in 2 years from 2000 to 2002 have slight difference.” Grouping the two series into a clear comparison paragraph, and using references that specify which line is being discussed, would improve the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “visitors,” “increased,” “rapidly growing,” and “fell down,” so the reader can usually identify the trends being described. However, the range is limited and several expressions are unnatural or imprecise, such as “were average the number,” “the visitors line have rapidly down,” and “rose highly.” Repetition of “number of visitors” also makes the report less flexible. Choose standard trend collocations such as “stood at,” “fell to,” “rose steadily,” and “reached a peak,” and use “approximately” for estimates. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish a rise, a fall, and a peak without relying on repeated general wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the reader can follow the broad sequence of changes. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction. For example, “the visitors line have rapidly down” lacks a correct verb phrase, while “the number of people were increased” uses an incorrect passive form and agreement. In “the returning visitors were fell down,” the verb form is also faulty. Articles and phrasing are problematic in “In the year of beginning.” Practise accurate patterns such as “the figure fell from X to Y,” “visitor numbers rose,” and “the number was approximately X.” Shorter, controlled sentences would improve clarity before adding more complex structures.
