Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both visitor groups and report the main movements, including the first-time visitors’ fall to 4,000 in 2002 and subsequent rise, and returning visitors’ peak in 2006 followed by a decline. The figures are generally close to the chart. However, the overview is not fully clear: it says first-time visitors “stop at almost 12000” without highlighting that returning visitors remain higher at the end, and it describes the first-time rise as “slightly” reduced even though the fall from 8,000 to 4,000 is substantial. Some details are repeated in the body rather than used to make sharper comparisons. A clearer overview of the contrasting trends and final figures would make the key features more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the two visitor groups. This makes the information easy to locate, and sequencing within each group is mostly chronological. However, the overview repeats details that are then restated in the body, particularly the 2000 and 2008 figures and the returning visitors’ peak. Connectors such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “After this” are clear but somewhat mechanical, while “Overall” introduces a summary that does not clearly compare the two series. Improve progression by grouping the main contrasts together and using references such as “this figure” or “the latter group” only where their meaning is unmistakable.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing trends, including “peak,” “steadily,” “fall,” and “rise,” so the reader can understand the broad movements. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for graph reporting: “normal downfall,” “better than previous two years,” and “stops at” do not express the trends precisely. There are also spelling errors, including “ilustrate,” “hisgh,” and “slighty,” and repeated use of “proportion” where the graph reports numbers of visitors. These issues limit precision and naturalness, although the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Build a more reliable set of trend verbs and collocations, and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the chronological descriptions are generally understandable. However, some grammatical errors recur in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “the line graph ilustrate” needs subject–verb agreement, while “in 2004 they rise again” and “it slightly rised” use incorrect verb forms. Phrases such as “it reached at its peak” and “then it slightly rised at reached” show problems with verb patterns and sentence structure. The response also shifts between present and past forms when describing the data. Use the present simple consistently for chart descriptions, and practise accurate past-tense forms and verb patterns; this will make your varied sentences more controlled.
