Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify both visitor groups and mention several relevant years, including the first-time figure of 8,000 in 2000 and the returning visitors’ peak in 2006. However, the overview is unclear and includes a major misreading: the two series are not equal overall, and they do not both rise and fall every year. First-time visitors fall to about 4,000 in 2002, then increase steadily; returning visitors rise to around 15,200 in 2006 before declining. The final figures are also inaccurate: they are approximately 11,800 and 13,400, not a shared 12,000. Explanations such as visitors being “ready to live there” or changes occurring “according to their facilities” are unsupported. Focus on accurate trends and comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an opening, an attempted overview, and separate discussion of the two visitor groups. This gives the reader some sense of the topic. However, progression is difficult to follow because ideas are repeated or placed in unclear relationships. For example, “every year there is a rise and decrease” conflicts with the later account of first-time visitors increasing, while “Afterwards” does not clearly identify the year or trend it refers to. Linking phrases such as “But on the other side” and “Occasionally” do not reliably clarify comparisons. Organise the report into a concise overview followed by chronological descriptions of each series, using clear references to years and figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “first time visitors,” “returning visitors,” “rise,” “decrease,” and “highest rate,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing a graph. “Visitors total rate” and “starting rate” are unclear, while “ready to live there” introduces an unsuitable meaning. There are also spelling errors such as “vistors,” “slowingly,” and “facilites,” which reduce precision. Use standard graph-reporting expressions and choose words that describe numerical movement rather than inferred motives. More accurate vocabulary would make the trends easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and longer sentences, but grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors often make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. For example, “Both the visitors total rate is equal” has faulty agreement and sentence structure, and “In 2000, first time visitors starting rate from 8000” lacks a clear verb and grammatical construction. Tense and clause formation are also problematic in “the returning visitors from 2000 it shows that…” Commas and spacing are frequently missing, and sentence boundaries are unclear in places. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use past-tense reporting consistently. A few accurate complex sentences can then show comparisons without sacrificing clarity.
