Student answer (Band 5.5)
The line graph demonstrates about the caryl island where tourists who where visiting for first time and returning since ([redacted phone]).
The tourists who are visiting for the firt time to cary island in 2000 are gradually decreased from 8000 to 4000 in 2002 and later the improvements were made in the caryl island was attracted by the people then from 2002 the visitors who are going to visit caryl island were increased for every two years where in 2002 the first time visitors are 4000 and its gradually improves to 12000 in the year 2008.
The tourists who are returning from the caryl island in 2000 are 3000 members where in the year 2002 the returning visitors are 10000 a massive inflation between in these years and later in 2004 it increased to 12000 members and in the year 20006 it moves to 15000 members and at last in the year 2008 the returning visitors are decreased to nearly 13000.
By comparing the both firsttime and returningvisitors the returning visitors are more that the firsttime visitors so the caryl island should provide more facilities and advertisments for attracting the new people like restaurents, resorts, pubs etc. to gain attention from the public.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify both visitor groups and describe several important movements, including the first-time visitors’ fall from about 8,000 to 4,000 and the returning visitors’ rise from 3,000 to a peak around 15,000 before declining. However, there are factual inconsistencies: first-time visitors reach about 11,800 in 2008, not 12,000, and the increase is described as beginning in 2002 without noting the 2004 figure of 6,000. The comparison that returning visitors were always more numerous is also inaccurate, since first-time visitors outnumbered them in 2000. The final recommendation about facilities and advertising is not required by this data-summary task and takes space from a clearer overview of the contrasting trends.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response is arranged in a recognisable sequence: an introduction, a paragraph about first-time visitors, one about returning visitors, and a final comparison. This gives the reader some organisation. However, progression within sentences is often difficult to follow, especially in the long second paragraph, where several years and changes are joined together. Connectors such as “and later,” “where,” and “at last” are repetitive or used imprecisely, and references such as “these years” are not always clear. The final paragraph shifts from comparing the data to recommending facilities, which weakens the overall focus. Use shorter sentences, group the two series by their main trends, and make comparisons at the relevant points.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “first time visitors,” “returning visitors,” “increased,” and “decreased,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing a graph. “Massive inflation” does not mean a sharp increase in visitor numbers, while “improvements were made” introduces an unsupported explanation. Phrases such as “the tourists who are returning from the island” also do not clearly express the category of returning visitors. Spelling errors, including “firt,” “advertisments,” and “restaurents,” further reduce control. Choose precise trend language and avoid adding causes or recommendations that the graph does not show.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts longer sentences and uses time clauses, but complex structures are often difficult to control. For example, “The tourists who are visiting for the firt time … are gradually decreased” combines an unsuitable progressive form with an incorrect passive construction. Tense and agreement also shift in “the returning visitors are 3000 members” and “it moves to 15000 members.” Articles and sentence boundaries are inconsistent, and the opening sentence is not grammatically complete. These errors sometimes make relationships between dates and figures harder to understand. Practise writing clear past-tense statements for each change, such as “The figure fell from 8,000 in 2000 to 4,000 in 2002,” before combining ideas into more complex sentences.
