Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both visitor groups and the full period, and you identify several key movements: first-time visitors fell from 8,000 to 4,000 before rising, while returning visitors climbed from 3,000 to a peak around 15,000 and then declined. The overview also recognises that returning visitors were generally the larger group. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: first-time visitors reached about 11,800 in 2008, not 12,000 exactly, and the rise from 2004 to 2006 for returning visitors is substantial rather than slight. The overview’s claim about “positive feedback” is not supported by visitor numbers. To strengthen the response, give a clearer summary of the contrasting overall trends and report the main figures more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and separate paragraphs for the two visitor groups. This gives the information an overall arrangement that is easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “To begin with” and “Moreover” to signal progression. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear: “Overall, the graph shows the consequently impact” does not clearly introduce a trend, and the long sentence beginning “Moreover, Returning visitors…” combines several stages without clear punctuation. Referencing such as “it” and “that” is sometimes difficult to follow. Use shorter, clearly punctuated sentences and organise each group’s changes in chronological order to make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing movement, including “decrease,” “climbed,” “jumped” and “fell down,” and you attempt more formal expressions such as “significant impact.” However, some choices are inaccurate or unnatural for a graph description. “Positive feedback” suggests opinions rather than visitor numbers, while “the highest person” is not an appropriate way to describe the largest figure. There is also repetition of “visitors” and “individuals,” and spelling errors such as “indiviuals” reduce accuracy. Aim for precise trend language and standard collocations, for example, describing a figure as reaching a peak or a number of visitors rising. This would make your vocabulary more natural and exact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the reader can generally understand the main trends. However, errors in agreement, verb forms and sentence construction occur in several places. For example, “The line graph compare” should be “compares,” and “First time visitors was” should be “First-time visitors were.” The phrase “it was gradually decrease” needs a past-tense verb form, such as “it gradually decreased.” Some sentences also run together, particularly the final paragraph, where commas join several independent ideas. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and subject–verb agreement, and use full stops to separate stages. Greater control of these patterns would make your meaning clearer.
